Bryan Melvin NDE: Died of Cholera, Met Jesus, and Saw Adolf Hitler in Hell

Discover Bryan Melvin's shocking NDE—after dying of cholera, he met Jesus, toured hell, and even saw Adolf Hitler in torment. A sobering testimony of judgment, mercy, and hope in Christ.

Most near-death experiences (NDEs) describe the breathtaking beauty of heaven. But some testimonies take us in the opposite direction—into the sobering reality of hell. This is the case with Bryan Melvin, who was working at a construction site in Tucson, Arizona, when he unknowingly drank from a cooler in his foreman’s truck. The foreman had traveled to Mexico the previous weekend, and when his car overheated, he refilled the jug with river water. Days later, Bryan tipped that jug back under the desert sun, and the contaminated water infected him with cholera. Within hours, Bryan collapsed, left his body, met Jesus Christ, and was taken on a shocking tour of hell—where he even saw Adolf Hitler in torment. His account remains one of the most vivid and unsettling NDEs ever recorded, carrying both a warning and an invitation to find salvation in Christ.

Bryan Melvin’s Background

Bryan grew up in a Christian home, but as a teenager he began to drift. He devoured philosophy and skepticism, which led him from agnosticism to militant atheism. For years, he mocked Christians and insisted there was no God. Ironically, it would take his own death to prove to him that eternity is very real.

Contaminated Water and a Fatal Illness

The turning point came on a sweltering summer day in Tucson. Temperatures soared above 120 degrees as Bryan labored on a construction site. Exhausted and thirsty, he reached for a thermos in the back of his foreman’s truck. What he didn’t know was that the water inside wasn’t clean. His foreman had just returned from Mexico, where his car had overheated on a family trip. In desperation, he had refilled the cooler with river water from across the border.

Bryan drank deeply, unaware of the danger. Hours later, he was violently ill. The river water carried cholera, and his body began shutting down. At first, he joked about it, saying strong liquor could kill the germs. But as the illness intensified, he went into shock. Just before death, he felt a strange calm and sudden clarity. His nearsighted vision became perfect. He told his roommates he was improving—then collapsed.

Leaving His Body

Bryan suddenly found himself outside his body, standing in the room. When he reached down to pet his dog, his hand passed right through. His dog whimpered, sensing something his human eyes could not see. In that instant, atheism shattered. Death was not the end. He was still alive, still himself, but now in spirit. He then heard beautiful music—songs of praise in a language he did not know, yet completely understood.

The Life Review: Judged by God’s Love

Bryan was shown a life review, a moment when every action, thought, and motive was revealed in the light of God’s truth. He saw how his selfishness, cruelty, and betrayals had scarred others. He felt the pain his parents endured when he stole from them and spiraled into destructive behavior. But what shook him most was that he was being judged by God’s love itself. Bryan realized that love without boundaries is not love at all. God’s love is holy and just, and it revealed how he had manipulated and rejected that love for his own purposes.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

The Gate, the Vortex, and the Shattered Illusion

After his life review, Bryan was told he could not enter heaven in his fallen state. Instead, he suddenly found himself in a setting that looked strangely familiar. Across a small valley stood a house that resembled the one he grew up in. At first, the scene seemed comforting, but it felt lifeless and drained of color. As he drew closer, the surroundings began to shift. The comforting familiarity dissolved, and a gate opened like a scroll before him. Bryan was pulled into a tornado-like vortex, filled with foul smells, searing heat, and the sound of hideous cries.

Inside this swirling darkness, he was greeted by beings who appeared friendly—even familiar—slapping him on the back and telling him he had entered paradise. For a brief moment, he believed them. Then he saw something shocking: his mother was among them. But Bryan knew his mother was still alive back on earth. That realization exposed the lie. The illusion instantly collapsed. The beings’ forms twisted and shifted, revealing their true grotesque nature—gargoyle-like, monstrous, resembling ancient pagan idols. These were not friends. They were demons, and they had been authorized to escort him deeper. Bryan realized that hell’s entrance is built on deception. Souls are lured in by what feels safe, familiar, or even joyful, only to have the mask ripped away when it is too late.

The Land Unknown: A Tour of Hell

Hell appeared as a vast spiraling pit, like a staircase lined with cells and chambers. Souls were trapped in endless cycles of torment, experiencing the full consequences of their sins. Bryan saw how each soul was deceived—thinking they had entered safety or paradise, only to discover too late it was a cruel illusion. The Bible speaks clearly: “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life” (Matthew 25:46).

The Hypocritical Preacher

One of the most sobering encounters Bryan witnessed involved a man who had once been a preacher during the great revival movements of the early 1800s. Outwardly he proclaimed Christ, but in secret he lived a double life, exploiting his position to manipulate and abuse others for personal gain. He trampled people to get ahead, driven by pride and greed rather than genuine faith.

In hell, his hypocrisy was fully exposed. The very authority he had once wielded was stripped away, and he was mocked by demons who paraded his shame. The crowds he once deceived now despised him, and he was thrown out into the dust of the streets—a fitting recompense for the way he had trampled others in life.

Bryan realized that religious hypocrisy is no shield from God’s judgment. Merely holding a title or standing in a pulpit means nothing if one’s heart is corrupt. As Jesus warned, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).

Bryan Melvin Saw Adolf Hitler in Hell

Among the tormented, Bryan recognized Adolf Hitler. He described Hitler bent over, his flesh burning off and regenerating again and again. His hatred consumed him, and he spewed rage without end. Demons mocked him, and the souls around him despised him. Bryan noted that Hitler had been heavily involved in the occult in life, and now he was chained to that darkness in eternity. The torment was not only fire but futility—an endless cycle of hate, deception, and pain. It was clear to Bryan that no one escapes God’s justice—not even the most powerful and feared rulers of history.

Surrounded by Demons

As Bryan was led deeper into the pit, he saw demons of every shape and size. Some were towering and grotesque, others looked like ancient idols or twisted gargoyle-like figures. They mocked the souls as they pushed them into cells, relishing the torment. Bryan soon realized with horror that he himself was among them, destined for the same fate. The weight of his atheism and pride crushed him, and he knew in his heart that this was what he deserved. Surrounded by these hideous beings, he could feel their foul breath and hear their taunts. Desperate and terrified, he cried out to Jesus over and over, clinging to the only name he knew could save him.

At that moment, everything changed. The ground shook violently, and the demons shrieked as the overwhelming presence of Jesus Christ entered the pit. Instantly, the evil beings scattered in terror. Jesus lifted Bryan up, carrying him out of the spiraling abyss and away from the torment that had nearly consumed him.

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand” (Psalm 40:2).

Born Again

Bryan awoke back in his body. A neighbor rushed him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with cholera and barely survived. Later, while resting at home in a beanbag chair, Bryan prayed: “Jesus, I never want to go back to that awful place. Take me, I’m Yours.” From that moment, his life was radically changed. Though the trauma of seeing hell lingered, he eventually found healing through serving in church and walking with Christ.

The Warning of Pride

Bryan’s greatest warning is about pride. Pride convinces us we don’t need Jesus. Pride tells us we’re “good enough.” Pride blinds us from surrender. But pride is deadly. “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). His testimony reminds us that heaven and hell are real, eternity is real, and only Jesus saves.
